My ladybug

Hey ladybug!

I have been thinking of ways to brand my work (cupcakes, parties, decor, etc.) I thought of having a signature color, but that would only work in the logo. I thought of having a signature theme, but couldn't figure out how to apply it to all projects. Then I thought I'd try a symbol, but what to use?

Well, I refer to everyone as "ladybug". Its a term of endearment and it helps when you can't remember someone's name :) I didn't know how I would infuse my ladybug into my branding plan. When I came across a ladybug fondant topper in Hobby Lobby, I knew I found what I was looking for. Now I only needed to make it mine.

My first ladybugs were made with rolling red fondant in a ball for the body. Using black fondant for the head and a edible writing pen for the spots and line down the back. That was very tedious. I simplified the process by rolling out the red fondant and cutting small circles for the body (eliminating the rolling step.)

I am trying royal icing for the ladybugs this week. We'll see how that works out...

Gift Sets

I found these adorable boxes! They hold 6 cupcakes or a 6 inch smash cake. These are great for gifts for any occasion (birthdays, anniversaries, promotions) or just because. Everyone deserves a little something sweet.

Smash Cake

The adventures of my cake decorating class Part 2 -

I forgot to take pictures of part one, so please forgive me. In the 2nd class we learned quite a bit about using icing and the different tips. I am so excited! Can't wait to try out my newly acquired skills.

Fight Night Cupcakes

My best friend had a fight party Sat night to watch the Mayweather vs Ortiz boxing match. I am NOT a boxing fan. Boxing to me is not a sport, its just grown men street fighting with rules.

So I am going to this fight party with NO intentions of watching the fight. I am there to socialize. When I visit a friends house for any type of party or gathering I try to bring something with me. Since this was a fight party I made "Boxing" cupcakes. These chocolate cupcakes with buttercream icing are decorated with various boxing symbols including: boxing shorts, championship belt, knockout stars and boxing gloves. I had so much fun making these and my friends loved them.

If I had thought to make these a little earlier I would have made a boxing ring for the container. Oh well... maybe next time.

1st Cupcake Cake

Sooo... as a last minute idea, I decided to throw together a "cake" for my cousin's birthday.

I had made Italian Cream Cake Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Icing for dessert. I felt he needed something to celebrate with his name on it. (He likes the attention.)

I have never decorated the cupcakes as a cake before and had no idea as to what I was going to do. I tried a couple of different shapes and decided on this one. The top coat of icing was a lot easier to do than I had thought. I outlined it with a quick ruffle. I used some leftover cupcake fondant toppers. Added a few words and candles and ta da!

I am going to try this again soon, now that I know how easy it is :)
